What are the Learning Communities?

The Learning Communities are sector-based networks in Mid-Michigan working to foster industry growth and support efforts to attract and retain skilled workforces in Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare and Entrepreneurship.   Led by industry Champions, (Norma Hagenow, Chief Learning Officer and former CEO, Genesys; Kathy Conklin, Executive Director, Saginaw County Business and Education Partnership; and Karen Bantel, Executive Director, Michigan Entrepreneurship Education Network) the Learning Communities provide a venue for regional collaboration, best-practice sharing, and industry innovation.

Why should I become involved in a Learning Community?

As a participant, you will help inventory your industry’s assets and challenges in Mid-Michigan, and strategize to address obstacles to attracting and retaining a skilled workforce in our region - while aligning with current initiatives.  Additionally, the Launch will offer the opportunity to network within your industry, present examples of successful collaborative projects underway in your sector, and expand your knowledge of available resources.
